A Colombian street artist, Jhón Jairo Morales Bernal, is an author of the original sculpture technique.
Collecting and recycling of used plastic cups from the city dustbins allows him to create simple shaped plastic statuettes, usually animals.
The technique is based on melting down the plastic cups in fire on a burner.
Then he shapes fused plastic mechanically and gives the material a design.
The process is closed by sinking a statuette into the cold water. Due to the temperature of liquid plastic, artist's hands get burned often.
The artist works and sells his work in the Metropolitan Park of Cali, Colombia.

looking at these pictures give me such a weird deja vu feeling or like im looking at a memory in realtime i believe i saw this man or someone that looked and did the exact same thing, about 11 years ago i was on summer break visiting my father in Colombia when we went to eat at a restaurant this man was outside and has a small crowd around him i was about 8 at the time and like any 8 year old i was attracted to see what it was and dragged my father to see aswell it was so interesting seeing how he would mold the plastic cups into all sorts of things long story short i ended up buying a a crocodile holding a cane and hat that is smoking a cigarette and im pretty sure i ended up loving it cause i beat the crap out of it as a toy the cigarette and cane have broken off along with all his teeth he still looks stick asf and i have him standing at my desk if i could attach some photos i would i hope to go back soon to see if Jhón is still around and if he could repair him or get a brand new character, i never thought i would see pictures like this and i glad i did cause i can't find anything anywhere else about this plastic art but i do see alot of videos about the guys that bend metal wire into all shapes and names which i also have gotten souvenirs from and they are all really unique the Colombian people are really creative in making ways to make money without having to beg
